Cumberland Council extends deadline for Local Plan land nominations
Submissions can now be made until the end of November 2026
Cumberland Council has announced that the deadline for submitting land for consideration in their new Local Plan has been extended to 30th November 2026.
The Call for Sites invites residents, landowners, developers, and interested parties to put forward sites for potential development or protection. The council aims to understand the availability of land across the Cumberland area for uses such as residential, commercial, leisure, transport, and health, among others.
Cumberland Local Plan excludes St Cuthbert’s Garden Village and the Lake District National Park, which have their own Local Plans. Sites submitted previously to former councils or during the initial Cumberland Call for Sites in 2025 are already considered and need not be resubmitted.
Councillor Bob Kelly emphasized the importance of this extension, saying it allows for a more comprehensive understanding of available land to address future needs. Interested parties can submit their sites and find more information on the Cumberland Local Plan website.
