Cumberland Council launches gritter naming competition to keep winter wheels turning
Residents invited to help name five new gritters joining the fleet
Cumberland Council is inviting residents, communities, and schools to participate in a creative competition to name five new gritters set to join the winter fleet.
After the success of previous naming contests, the council is seeking imaginative, funny, and unique names once again.
The newly named gritters will join popular community choices such as Mike Zeller Ice Dispeller and La'al Salty.
Residents can submit their name suggestions through social media or by emailing [email protected] until 13th November.
Participating schools will have the opportunity to receive a special visit when their suggested name is chosen.
Councillor Denise Rollo emphasised that while the contest is fun, it also honours the tireless efforts of gritter drivers and highways teams who keep roads safe.
