A man from Carlisle has been jailed after assaulting and strangling a woman.
Ross Henderson, 33, of Henderson Road, was sentenced to two years in prison for one count of assault, one count of intentional strangulation and one count of possession of class B drugs.
The court heard how in February 2024, Henderson assaulted a woman by kicking her in the face, lifting her off the floor by her throat and banging her head off a ledge, causing her to fear for her life.
Detective Constable Van Der Westhuizen said:
“This was a serious and violent assault which left the victim fearing for her life. Violence of this nature will never be tolerated, and we are committed to ensuring offenders are brought before the courts.
“I would like to commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and supporting this investigation.
“Support is available and the Constabulary works closely with trusted partner agencies to provide the appropriate support which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances."
