A man has been sentenced to four years and eight months behind bars for drug offences and making threats with a knife in Carlisle.

Lewis Parker-Smith admitted to possessing cocaine with intent to supply, being involved in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, and threatening people with a knife in public.

On 20th March, the incident unfolded when a member of the public suspected the man was armed with a knife, pursuing him to Carlisle train station.

There, the 21-year-old from Birkenhead, Merseyside, threatened the individual, inducing fear of being stabbed.

Another person who intervened was also threatened with a stabbing motion.

Police arrived on the scene and, using a taser, prompted Parker-Smith to surrender the knife, leading to his detention.

He was found carrying 49 wraps of crack cocaine and possessing a mobile phone with messages suggesting heroin and cocaine sales.

Cumbria Police’s Community Serious Organised Crime Unit thanked the public for their vigilance, noting the investigation revealed Parker-Smith's involvement in a County Lines drug operation.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about drug dealing in their community to report it.
