Cumberland Council is calling upon local schools, community groups, and entertainers to be part of the highly anticipated Carlisle Christmas Lights Switch On this year.

The event, scheduled for Sunday 15th November, promises a vibrant display of community spirit and festive cheer outside Carlisle's Old Town Hall.

Local performers are invited to apply for the chance to showcase their talents alongside celebrity acts during the event. Applications are open for school choirs, dance groups, singing groups, community choirs, and individual performers across Cumberland who wish to take the stage.

Selected participants will be allocated up to 10 minutes to perform between 3pm and approximately 4.50pm, leading up to the official lights switch on at 5pm and a headline act later in the evening.

Those interested in participating must contact Cumberland Council's events team with their applications before Friday 18th September at [email protected] . Given the limited slots, successful applicants will be informed the following week.

Councillor Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council's Executive Member for Vibrant and Healthy Places, shared her enthusiasm: "The Carlisle Christmas Lights Switch On is always a fantastic community event, and we're excited to once again showcase the talent we have across Cumberland. We know there are many brilliant performers, choirs, and groups in our area, and this is a fantastic opportunity for them to be part of one of the city's most popular festive celebrations. We encourage anyone interested to apply and help us make this year's event even more extraordinary."
