Police appeal for witnesses after serious car park collision in Carlisle

Pedestrian hospitalised; driver released on bail amid investigation

Police in Carlisle are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in a car park at Sainsbury’s on Church Street, involving a blue Nissan Note and a pedestrian. The incident occurred around 3:30pm on 20th June 2026.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing hospital treatment. The driver, a 34-year-old woman from Carlisle, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving but has since been released on bail as investigations proceed.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or events leading up to it, or who may possess dashcam footage, to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
