A man from Kettering who threw knives at and strangled his ex-girlfriend has been jailed for 32 months.

26-year-old Callum Fox, of Hilltop Avenue, previously admitted breaching a restraining order, intentional strangulation, grievous bodily harm and threats with a bladed article in a private place.

Carlisle Crown Court heard how police received a 999-call stating a woman was in danger from her ex-partner (Fox), who was trying to break into her house.

After arresting Fox that same day, officers learned of an assault the day before.

Fox had slapped, punched and threw knives at the victim.

He even threatened her by putting a knife to her throat and said "I'll do it".

The victim attempted to flee to a different room, but Fox went on to pin her down and strangle her.

He's also been handed a restraining order against the victim.
