Bomb disposal experts have safely detonated two wartime devices which washed up on Drigg Beach near Seascale.

A member of the public raised the alarm this morning, which led police to call in an Army Bomb Squad.

An x-ray inspection was carried out on one device and deemed inert. The other 2 items contained explosives and were destroyed.

Furness Coastguard posted these pictures from the scene.
