Military medals have been stolen from a property in Barrow.

Cumbria police say a property on Mulberry Way was burgled yesterday (23rd December).

It's reported that a General Service Medal- Northern Ireland, an Iraq War Medal, and cash were stolen.

Officers are now appealing to anyone who may have seen the medals for sale.

Detective Sergeant Darren Henderson said: “These items hold significant sentimental value, and we want to see them returned to their rightful owner and bring the offender/s to justice.

“If you think you might have been offered them for sale or know who could be responsible for taking them, please contact us immediately.

“I would also appeal to antique dealers or medal specialists; if you have been offered any of these medals, or if anybody has recently purchased a medal and you do not know where they have come from, please get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is being urged to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting log number 208 of 23 December.
