Man arrested after reportedly approaching child in Barrow

A man has been arrested in Barrow following a report that he approached a child on Rawlinson Street yesterday evening.

Cumbria Police detained the individual this morning, 13th August, as part of their ongoing investigation.

The arrested man is currently in custody, suspected of attempted child abduction.

The incident reportedly took place around 7:45 pm on 12th August, with no physical contact made with the child, but police are treating the matter seriously.

Officers conducted house-to-house enquiries last night and today, with increased patrols in the area to reassure residents and gather information.

Cumbria Police are urging the public to remain vigilant and to allow them time to investigate without engaging in online speculation, especially now that an arrest has been made.
