Man arrested after concerning behaviour reported at Barrow football pitches
Cumbria Police urge public to avoid speculation as investigation continues
Cumbria Police have made an arrest following reports of suspicious behaviour at the football pitches on Schneider Road, Barrow.
Officers received a report earlier today, 29th September, concerning an incident on Monday, 21st September, where a man allegedly approached children at the location. The same individual was reported to have returned to the football pitches yesterday evening, 28th September.
While there has been no indication of physical contact with any child, Cumbria Police treat all such reports with seriousness and have conducted enquiries into the matter.
The man in question voluntarily attended a police station and is currently in custody as officers continue their investigation.
Police are aware of online discussions and concerns regarding the incident. They urge the public to allow law enforcement the necessary time to carry out their work without interference and to avoid unhelpful speculation, especially given that an individual is now in custody.
Cumbria Police stress the importance of establishing the factual circumstances of the situation and request public cooperation in refraining from spreading unverified information.
The area has seen increased police presence to reassure the community and ensure safety, while thorough inquiries are conducted to understand the events that took place.
