17-year-old Absi Ahmed Mohammad died at High Dam Tarn after he got into difficulty while swimming with friends.

On 7 April, a multi-agency rescue operation was launched at midday following reports a boy had gone missing in the water.

Absi's body was recovered that night just after 10pm.

In tribute to him, his family said: “Absi was a bright, kind, funny young man with his whole future ahead of him. He was a loyal friend, a loving son, and someone who brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. His loss has shaken our entire community.”

His family are also using this opportunity to raise awareness of water safety and staying clear of open water.
