A teenager has been seriously injured after being hit by a car on the A6 north of Penrith, officers say.

Emergency services were called out to the A6 near Milestone House at around 10pm on 1 May.

They'd received reports a pedestrian had been hit by a white Audi.

The pedestrian, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Officers say the driver of the Audi stopped at the scene and helped with enquiries.

Investigators are now appealing for anyone with information on the collision.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said "Police would like to hear from those driving between Penrith and Stoneybeck roundabout between 21:30 and 22:00 on 1 May 2026 that may have seen the pedestrian or have any dashcam footage.

"People can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit quoting incident number of 285 1 May 2026.

"You can also phone on 101 or email directly at [email protected]."
