Woman jailed for 'violent attack' on elderly woman in Stratford
48 year old Helen Kaplan stabbed an 80 year old several times
A woman's been jailed for nine and a half years for a 'violent attack' on an elderly woman in Stratford upon Avon.
48 year old Helen Kaplan, from London, inflicting multiple stab wounds on an 80 year old victim in November last year.
The victim was found bleeding in the street by a member of the public, who called police.
Kaplan was arrested at a nearby McDonalds, where she was found washing her hands - and a knife, believed to have been used in the incident, recovered from a bin in the toilets.
CCTV footage also revealed the suspect had tried to start a fire in the victim's home.
Kaplan knew the woman she attacked, and said during the attack she 'wanted her dead'.
The victim was taken to hospital and since made a full recovery.
Kaplan admitted wounding with intent and arson - and has been sentenced to nine years and six months for GBH and ten months for arson, to run concurrently.
Detective Inpector Morris of the Domestic Abuse and (RASSO) Rape & Serious Sexual Offences Team at Warwickshire Police said:
