Woman dies after house fire in Bedworth

A woman has died after a fire at a property in Bedworth.

Emergency services were called to Maston Lane at around 6:20am on Saturday morning (11 July).

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service say crews tackled a kitchen fire in a first-floor maisonette and they remained on scene for around five hours monitoring hotspots.

West Midlands Ambulance Service say a woman was found in a critical condition and given advanced life support by pracademics, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A second woman was taken to hospital for treatment for the possible effects of smoke inhalation.
