West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Simon Foster has welcomed a near 20% reduction in drug-related neighbourhood crime across the region.

The West Midlands Combatting Drugs and Alcohol Partnership (WMCDAP) Progress Report 2025 shows that offences such as burglary, vehicle theft, and robbery linked to drugs fell from 1,096 to 887 over a 12-month period.

Solihull recorded the largest drop, with a 48.1% reduction in these community-level crimes.

As chair of WMCDAP, PCC Foster oversees a multi-agency board that coordinates enforcement, treatment, and prevention efforts across the seven local authority areas of the West Midlands.

PCC Foster said: “This report shows our coordinated approach to tackling the root causes of drug-related crime is working. Fewer victims of burglary, robbery, and vehicle theft means safer communities.

“While these results are welcome, we will not be complacent. Our focus remains on enforcement, disruption, and ensuring people can access treatment and recovery services. By continuing this approach, we are not only tackling crime but also saving lives across the West Midlands.”
