A man has been seriously injured after reports of a car crashing into a tree in Stratford-upon-Avon this morning (23rd September).

Emergency services were called to the A46 Alcester Road at 0.05am where they found a man in a serious condition.

The West Midlands air ambulance service, the fire service and Warwickshire police were at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a car which had collided with a tree. The driver, a man, was in a serious condition and was rapidly extricated with help from fire colleagues whilst receiving trauma care from the team of ambulance medics.

“The man sustained serious injuries and was stabilised on scene before being conveyed on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency care.”

There were road closures in place for hours this morning between the A422 and the A435 as the tree was blocking the road.
