£8.2m investment secured for over 500 early years places in Warwickshire

Warwickshire County Council has authorised an £8.23 million investment aimed at modernising early years nursery facilities across the county.
The approval followed the authority's Full Council meeting on 21st July, marking the beginning of a significant three-year programme funded through the Council’s Capital Investment Fund.
The initiative will secure more than 500 nursery places by replacing or refurbishing 14 ageing nursery buildings situated on school sites.
The programme emphasises high-quality, modular buildings, including enhanced outdoor areas with canopied all-weather learning environments.
According to Cllr Wayne Briggs, Portfolio Holder for Children & Families, Education & SEND, the investment underscores a commitment to young residents and families across Warwickshire.
"This £8.2 million investment is a direct commitment to our youngest residents and their working families," Briggs said.
The new facilities are designed to meet modern efficiency standards, which promise lower carbon dioxide emissions and reduced operating costs.
H2 Protection and Upgrades
The programme is set to secure over 500 nursery places across 14 sites and prioritises targeted upgrades.
Twelve buildings will be replaced with modular structures, one refurbished entirely, and one repurposed within a school building.
Vulnerable children in receipt of deprivation and disability funding, as well as those requiring SEND support, will continue receiving care through these updated facilities.
Phased Project Delivery
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2029.
Major building work will be prioritised during summer holidays to minimise disruption.
Initial site planning and groundworks for the first phase are projected to begin during the Autumn Term of 2026.
Warwickshire County Council will remain the landlord to the nursery operators, ensuring financial sustainability and income generation over the lifespan of the buildings.
