Warwick man charged in connection with 'Pakistani dissidents assault plots'

Three men were charged for alleged conspiracy to assault dissidents last Christmas Eve

A man from Warwick is among three individuals charged in connection with alleged plots to attack Pakistani dissidents in the UK.

Liam McGarry, 25, is accused of conspiracy to assault and occasion bodily harm relating to an incident in Cambridgeshire last year.

He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today (5 February).

Two other men, Asaf Afsar, 40, and Mark Regan, 53, both from Birmingham, face charges of conspiracy to assault and occasion bodily harm in relation to two incidents.

These events occurred at addresses in Cambridgeshire and Chesham, Buckinghamshire, on Christmas Eve last year.

The Metropolitan Police provided information on the charges.

Previously, four other men were charged regarding the investigation.

Louis Regan, 25, from Birmingham, and Karl Blackbird, 40, from Bedworth, are charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Clark McAulay, 39, from Coventry, faces a single charge concerning the Chesham incident.

Doneto Brammer, 21, from Wood Green, north London, faces multiple charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon and conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life, among others.

Brammer is accused about a further incident on New Year's Eve last year.

These four were remanded into custody ahead of their upcoming hearing at the Old Bailey on 13th February.

The investigation continues as part of efforts to address allegations of conspiracies targeting individuals based on their dissident status in the UK.
