Thousands of new EV charging points planned across Warwickshire
More than 2,100 new public charge points will include rapid and on-street chargers
More than 2,100 new public electric vehicle charging points are set to be installed across Warwickshire as part of a new investment programme.
Warwickshire County Council has secured £3.295 million in government funding, alongside around £15 million in private investment, to expand the county’s charging network.
The scheme will include at least 73 rapid charging sockets, delivered by EZO, and 2,100 lower-powered on-street sockets from Connected Kerb.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Leicestershire, Rutland and Worcestershire County Councils, with support from Midlands Connect, through the Government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund.
Councillor Stephen Shaw, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning, said: “It’s fantastic news that we now have partners in place to deliver these electric vehicle charge points across the county offering our residents, and those working or traveling through the county, greater choice and cheaper prices.
"We are committed to providing our residents with a modern and resilient transport infrastructure. Enhancing options for EV charging for those with EVs, or those thinking of switching to one, is a major contributing factor to that.”
