Six Warwickshire Police officers investigated after death of man in hospital
Six Warwickshire Police officers are being investigated following the death of a man in hospital.
Drew Kenney died in March this year, and now the Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating the contact he had with both Warwickshire Police and Leicestershire Police.
A spokesperson for the Independent Office for Police Conduct, said: “We continue to investigate the contact Warwickshire Police and Leicestershire Police had with Drew Kenney prior to his death on 26 March this year.
“Our investigation began following referrals from both forces in relation to Mr Kenney’s death and a family complaint. The investigation is looking at the actions and decisions made by the officers in dealing with Mr Kenney during his detention, transport to and at hospital, including any use of force by them. We are also considering what information about Mr Kenney’s condition was passed on by officers to hospital staff on arrival.
"As part of our investigation we have now served six Warwickshire Police officers with notices of investigation in relation to allegations of gross misconduct. The serving of notices does not necessarily indicate that disciplinary proceedings will follow.”
