Rugby man jailed for seven years after £200,000 drug seizure
Police found over £200,000 worth of drugs in Larrassey's car and home
A man has been jailed for seven years after more than £200,000 worth of drugs were seized in Rugby.
Jobe Larrassey, 33, from Rugby, was arrested on 10th December after investigations suggested he was supplying drugs.
Police officers tried to pull Larrassey over while he was driving in the town but he refused to stop.
He crashed into a lorry on Leicester Road and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly detained by officers.
Drugs worth £200,000 seized
Approximately two kilograms of cocaine were found hidden in the boot of Larrassey's car.
Further searches at his home uncovered more cocaine and a large quantity of cannabis, with detectives estimating the drugs’ total street value to be over £200,000.
Larrassey was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine), class B drugs (cannabis), and dangerous driving.
Sentencing
He admitted to all charges and appeared at Warwick Crown Court on Friday (January 16), where he was sentenced to seven years in prison.
Larrassey was given six years for cocaine possession and one year for dangerous driving, plus a four-month sentence for cannabis possession to be served at the same time.
Detective Constable Matt Rapkins said: “This was a major seizure and a dangerous offender is now behind bars.
"Larrassey’s actions were reckless, but our officers acted decisively to prevent those drugs from reaching our communities.
"The sentence reflects the seriousness of what he did, and I hope it makes others think twice.”
