Inclusive rugby festival comes to Coventry
Over 300 children and young people with learning disabilities will be taking part in Tag Fest 2026 at Broadstreet RFC
More than 300 children and young people with learning disabilities will come together in Coventry this weekend for an inclusive tag rugby festival.
Organised by Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, Tag Fest 2026 will give participants the chance to experience the excitement of playing rugby, representing their teams and taking part in a festival atmosphere.
The event, now in its third year, will bring together disability tag rugby teams from across the country, with activities including matches, warm-ups, a mascot race, a barbecue and a disco.
Wooden Spoon patron HRH The Princess Royal will attend the event, alongside Wooden Spoon ambassador and Scotland international rugby player Pierre Schoeman.
Schoeman, who is also a British & Irish Lions player, says sport has the power to bring people together and create opportunities for young people to thrive.
Matt Bishop, Head of Communities at Wooden Spoon, said: "Tag Fest is about creating opportunities for children and young people with disabilities to experience the joy, confidence and sense of belonging that sport can bring.
"For many participants, this is their only chance to pull on a rugby shirt, represent their team and enjoy the same experiences as their peers.”
Tag Fest 2026 will be taking place at Broadstreet RFC in Coventry on Saturday 20 June.
