Reform UK gained three seats on the council while the Liberal Democrats gained two - the Conservatives remain the largest party

Rugby Borough Council remains under no overall control after the 2026 local elections.
Voters went to the polls yesterday (7 May) with 15 of the 42 seats on the council up for grabs.
Reform UK gained three seats from Labour meaning the party now has at place at the table.
Meanwhile the Liberal Democrats won the last two seats to be declared from the Conservatives and held on to four - taking the party's total to 12 - the same number as Labour.
Labour lost three seats to Reform UK but held on to two.
The Liberal Democrats and Labour have been in a coalition on the council since 2024.
However, after these elections the conservatives remain the largest party with 15 councillors.
Labour and the Liberal Democrats combined 24 seats are enough to form a new administration as the Conservatives and Reform UK only have 18 between them.
The Labour Group will be holding an AGM tonight (8th May) to elect a new group leader after the previous one stepped down at these local elections.
Its expected that cross party talks will follow and according to reports Conservative leader Derek Poole has expressed interest in leading the council.
The turnout in Rugby was 42.34% compared to 37% in the Nuneaton and Bedworth elections and 38% in Coventry.
