A prolific shop thief who repeatedly targeted stores in Coventry has been jailed for his offending.

Luke Sargant stole items including flowers, pregnancy kits, radios, coffee and confectionary worth around £250 in just five days.

The 28-year-old thief struck at three shops in Lower Stoke, Henley and Willenhall between 25 July and 29 July.

Following his arrest, he appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court on Wednesday (6 August) where he admitted theft and was jailed for 18 months.

PC Sylwia Walsh from the Stoke and Wyken neighbourhood team, said: “We’re working hard with local retailers and store security to identify persistent offenders and this jail term has put a stop to Luke Sargant’s criminality and disregard for people and their property.”
