Extra police presence aims to prevent antisocial behaviour in Stratford-upon-Avon
New initiative seeks to address issues caused by visiting groups
Police in Stratford-upon-Avon have launched Operation Pendine, an initiative aimed at addressing antisocial behaviour linked to visiting groups.
The operation focuses on issues such as alcohol-related disturbances, intimidation, and disruptions in the town centre, particularly during weekends and school holidays.
Police have collaborated with Stratford-upon-Avon District Council and other partners to preemptively identify and engage with potential problem groups before they arrive in town.
This approach seeks to diffuse situations early with friendly interactions, while more formal measures such as Public Space Protection Orders, dispersal orders, and civil enforcement are available if needed.
Partnerships in the initiative include Stratford BID, British Transport Police, West Midlands Railway, Chiltern Railways, and local Safer Neighbourhood Teams, all working collaboratively.
Residents and visitors might notice an increased police presence, especially around train stations and the town centre.
These measures aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone in Stratford-upon-Avon.
