A significant milestone has been reached as two life-saving defibrillators have been installed at Coventry Building Society Arena, marking the 400th installation for the local charity, OurJay Foundation.

These automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are situated at each end of the stadium and are accessible 24/7.

This includes during major events like Coventry City matches, concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and award ceremonies.

OurJay Foundation, which was created in memory of Rugby teenager Jamie Rees who died following a cardiac arrest in 2022, has previously installed defibrillators throughout Coventry, including the Empire and Skydome to reflect Jamie's love of music and ice skating.

This recent installation is the charity’s first at a sports stadium, which aligns with Jamie's passion for football.

Paul Michael, Managing Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, emphasised the critical nature of having AEDs readily available: "Every second matters in a cardiac arrest, and by having publicly accessible defibrillators available at both ends of the stadium will give people a vital head start."

Naomi Rees-Issitt, Jamie's mum and chair of OurJay Foundation, expressed her gratitude: "Jamie loved his football, so having a defibrillator here at Coventry Building Society Arena means such a lot to us.

Reaching 400 defibrillators is a big milestone, and to do it at a major stadium for the first time feels really fitting."

The venue’s installation brings the total number of defibrillators at Coventry Building Society Arena to 19, underscoring the commitment to safety at this busy locale.
