Man, in his 60s, dies after crash on the A46 near Salford Priors

A 55-year-old man from Cornwall has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

A man in his 60s has died after a collision involving a lorry on the A46 near Salford Priors.

Officers were called shortly before 3.45am today (22nd May) to the southbound stretch between Oversley Green and Salford Priors after reports of a pedestrian being hit by an HGV lorry.

The pestrian, whose car had reportedly broken down, was said to be walking towards his vehicle at the time of the collision.

The man died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Police investigations are ongoing, and they are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the collision or any witnesses to contact them.
