A man who sexually abused a child has been jailed for six years after Warwickshire Police detectives raided his home and uncovered a raft of evidence against him.

Last year officers say they began to suspect that 34-year-old Benjamin Stafford – who was living in Bidford at that time – was in possession of indecent images of children.

When officers raided his home, seized his devices and arrested him, they say they uncovered hundreds of indecent images of children, extreme images – and evidence that he had sexually abused a child.

Stafford now lives in Pershore in Worcestershire.

Officers say how he gave two no-comment interviews, but detectives built such a strong case against him that he ultimately pleaded guilty to:

  • One count of assaulting a child under 13 by touching
  • Three counts of making indecent photographs of a child
  • One count of taking indecent photographs of a child
  • One count of possession of an extreme images of an animals
  • One count of possession of a prohibited images of a child
  • One count of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child
  • One count of distributing indecent photographs of a child
  • And at Warwick Crown Court on Monday, 29 June, he was sentenced to 6 years in prison

DC Corrie, who led the investigation, said: “Stafford poses a significant danger to children and today’s outcome ensures he has been held accountable for his actions.

“We remain committed to safeguarding young people, supporting victims and ensuring offenders are brought before the courts to be held accountable for their actions."
