Leamington man jailed for more than ten years for rape and sexual assault
Alexander Jesus sentenced after jury finds him guilty
A 23-year-old man from Leamington has been sentenced to more than ten years in prison for raping and sexually assaulting a woman.
Alexander Jesus was found guilty after a trial at Warwick Crown Court, where it was revealed he repeatedly assaulted the victim at her home in March 2024.
She reported these crimes to the police following assistance from the Sexual Abuse Referral Centre (SARC).
Despite Jesus denying the accusations, the jury unanimously convicted him on all charges.
Sentencing took place on Thursday at Coventry Crown Court, resulting in Jesus receiving a ten-year jail term and an extended four-year licence period.
He must also sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life after being identified as a violent sexual offender.
The Investigation
Detective Constable Donna Parry, who led the investigation, commended the survivor's bravery and commitment to the investigation, expressing hope that the sentence would aid her recovery.
Parry said: “I would like to commend the survivor in this case for her bravery in coming forward and for her commitment to the investigation.
"Her strength and courage are remarkable and while I know no sentence will undo the damage he’s done, I hope it goes some way to helping her rebuild her life.
“I don’t underestimate how difficult it can be to report rape and sexual assault, but we will do everything we can to secure justice for you.”
