Lampard holding out hope after first leg Sunderland result
Coventry City play Sunderland tonight in the second leg of the Championship play offs
Frank Lampard hopes his past experiences can inspire his Coventry team to complete a Championship play-off comeback against Sunderland.
Coventry City are currently 2-1 down going into tonight's second leg match at the Stadium of Light.
A late defeat to Sunderland, at the CBS Arena on Friday, means critical goals are at stake this evening if the Sky Blues want to reach the finals at Wembley.
Manager, Frank Lampard, spoke ahead of the match, this evening, on tactics and past experiences.
Lampard said: "“I’ve been in football long enough, regardless of the Derby game to know it’s never done until it’s done, in both ways.
“I remember being 3-1 up in a Champions League semi-final against Liverpool and they scored two at Stamford Bridge after half hour to make it 3-3 and the game changed completely.
“At Derby when we went to Leeds, we went two-nil down in effect because we went one-nil down on the night at Elland Road.”
Lampard continued: "“We need to do a few details better, which we can explain to the players, but other than that, keep doing what we’ve been doing and trust ourselves because it’s a game of football, take away all the talk, the environment, the fans, it’s a game of football on the pitch for us to go and try and play the way we did the other day, without the little errors we put in, try not to do those and have that little bit more intent that I spoke about.”
