Inquest told Derby tech boss was found with stab wound to chest at Warwickshire house

A tech boss whose death sparked a murder investigation was found with a stab wound to the chest in a bathroom at a house in Warwickshire, an inquest has heard.
Neil Muller, 54, died at a house on Langley Road in the village of Claverdon on June 7.
In a four-minute hearing at Coventry Coroner’s Court on Friday, coroner Sean McGovern said Mr Muller, who was the chief executive of Derby-based IT business Node4, suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at 6.37am.
Police were called to attend the scene at 6.15am by the ambulance service, who found Mr Muller in a downstairs bathroom, just off the kitchen.
He had suffered a single stab wound to the chest and a superficial cut to the wrist and a weapon was found nearby in the sink, the court heard.
A post-mortem examination was carried out and a provisional cause of death, subject to further examination, was stab wound to the chest.
At the end of the short hearing, the coroner said: “I open an inquest touching upon the death of Mr Neil Keith Muller.
“I adjourn the inquest to a date to be fixed for police to provide evidence and for (the pathologist) to provide his final report.”
Less than an hour after Mr Muller was pronounced dead, a 55-year-old woman from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of murder.
She was later bailed, Warwickshire Police said.
In a statement released after his death, a spokesman for Node4 said: “We are absolutely devastated by the death of our CEO Neil Muller.
“Although Neil only recently joined Node4, he made a meaningful impact in a short space of time.
“He brought real energy, momentum and passion to the business, and his loss will be deeply felt by people across Node4 and the wider industry.
“Our thoughts are with Neil’s family, our colleagues and everyone who knew Neil at this very difficult time”.
