Image released after reported assault on West Midlands train
Police seek information following violent train assault
Officers from British Transport Police are investigating an assault that occurred on a train in the West Midlands.
The incident is reported to have taken place at around 3.50 pm on 13th June when a woman sitting in a carriage was approached by a man as she was on a video call.
After telling the man to leave her alone, he punched her in the cheek and chest.
The man walked away but soon returned, pushing the victim and punching her in the face, which caused her to fall.
As the train neared Coventry railway station, the man continued to follow the woman, verbally abusing her as she tried to disembark.
She managed to escape once the train arrived at the station, with the man leaving the train at Coventry as well.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man they believe could provide valuable information for their ongoing enquiry into the incident.
Anyone who recognises the person in the image is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 with reference 433 of 13th June.
