Headliners announced for Coventry's Godiva in the city event
The two day event replaces the Godiva festival which was paused earlier this year due to rising costs

The headline acts for Coventry's Godiva in the city event have been announced.
Leading this year's music programme are reggae legend David Rodigan, Coventry ska pioneers The Selecter, and acclaimed UK rapper Chip.
Taking place across Coventry city centre on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July, the new two-day celebration is being delivered by the City Council in place of the usual Godiva festival which was paused earlier this year due to rising costs.
Alongside established artists, the event will showcase emerging local performers and the winners of this year's Godiva Calling competition, aiming to highlight the city's grassroots music scene.
Live music will take place across two dedicated music stages at Millennium Place and Gosford Street Car Park with performances running from 12pm to 8pm on both days.
These are the only ticketed areas of the festival, while all other activities across the city centre will remain free to access.
Councillor John McNicholas, Cabinet Member responsible for events at Coventry City Council, said: "Godiva in the City is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our city's creativity, culture and musical talent.
"We’re using the event to showcase the creativity of the city – the music makers or those who have inspired the city, creative companies based in the city or those with connections who share our values. Coventry has a proud musical heritage that is recognised around the world, from Two Tone to the incredible artists emerging from the city today.
“We're incredibly proud to present a completely free programme that puts Coventry talent centre stage whilst bringing nationally recognised artists into the heart of our city.
"The event reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the local creative sector and creating opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy events in the city centre.
"Whether you're interested in the music, the family activities or simply want to experience the atmosphere, there will be something for everyone to enjoy."
Beyond the music programme, visitors can enjoy a range of family-friendly attractions spread across some of Coventry's most iconic locations.
The Cathedral Ruins will be transformed into a Secret Garden experience, offering families a storybook-inspired journey featuring interactive activities, nature-themed discoveries, performances and costumed characters.
Several Coventry-based arts organisations will contribute bespoke performances throughout the weekend, including Fabularium, Ego Theatre, Ascension Dance and Highly Sprung.
The city council say one of the standout attractions will be Unity, a large-scale circus spectacle featuring high-wire walking, dance-trapeze performances and aerial stunts, accompanied by a piece written by former Poet Laureate John Bernard
A total of 5,000 tickets per day will be available for the two music stage areas.
Godiva in the City forms part of Coventry's wider summer events programme.
