Firefighters tackle tall building fire in Coventry

Firefighters have been tackling a tall building fire in Coventry this morning (Tuesday 21 April 2026).

The fire involved a kitchen in a second floor flat in a 10-storey building on Hale Street.

The service says there were no reports of any causalties.

West Midlands Fire Service said: "Just before 1.30am on Tuesday 21 April, we responded to a tall building fire on Hales Street, Coventry.

"A total of two fire engines and two brigade response vehicles attended, crewed by firefighters from Coventry and Foleshill fire stations.

"This involved a kitchen fire in a second floor flat in a 10-storey building. The fire was contained to the kitchen.

"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire, which had involved a rubbish bag.

"We evacuated the building as a precaution, with residents being allowed back in shortly before 3am.

"There were no reports of any casualties."
