Several fire engines have been tackling a fire at a waste facility in Meriden.

Just after 4pm on Monday 11 August, crews were called to a significant fire, involving a large building at a waste management facility.

As of 6pm, there were nine fire engines, two 4×4 brigade response vehicles and a hydraulic aerial platform at the scene, off Cornets End Lane. A specialist high volume water pumping unit also attended.

There were no reports of anyone being hurt.

The fire was affecting around three quarters of the building, which measured approximately 80 metres by 40 metres.

Crews were working hard to protect the rest of the building and liaising closely with on-site staff to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
