A child has suffered burns following an explosion at Atherstone Golf Course after a group of children started a fire nearby.

The incident, reported yesterday (21/07), occurred when an aerosol can was thrown into the fire, leading to an explosion that caused injuries to the child's arms and legs.

All three emergency services were dispatched to the scene, with Atherstone Fire Service administering first aid before the ambulance arrived.

PCSO Scott & Payne and the local police have urged parents in Atherstone and neighbouring villages to talk to their children about fire safety, especially given the current dry weather. Parents should inquire about their child's activities if they were out socialising before lunchtime today.
