Drugs worth £150,000 and cash seized after operations in Stratford and M69
Two teenagers arrested as police disrupt organised crime
Police operations on two consecutive days this week have resulted in major seizures and arrests targeting organised crime networks.
On Monday, 12th January, officers from the Serious Organised Crime Unit, working alongside the Roads Policing Unit, stopped a vehicle on the M69 believed to be linked to drug supply. Cocaine was discovered concealed in the vehicle's centre console.
Subsequent searches at a storage unit and home addressed uncovered further cocaine in brick form, ready-bagged drugs for sale, and around £80,000 in cash. This totalled approximately £150,000 worth of illegal drugs and money seized.
Two teenagers arrested
The following day, reports of males armed with knives and machetes entering flats in Stratford resulted in rapid action by the police.
Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17 from the West Midlands, were arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons and being concerned in the supply of drugs. Weapons were recovered, and one of the teenagers was carrying over 200 wraps of suspected Class A drugs.
The police emphasised the role these actions play in disrupting criminal networks.
If you have information related to drug-related activity, it can be reported through 101, the police website, or anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
