Man jailed after ramming into police cars while trying to escape firearms officers in Coventry
33-year-old Jay Bennett has been sentenced to over three years in prison
A man has been jailed after attempting to ram into firearms officers and their vehicles with his car in Coventry.
33-year-old Jay Bennett was wanted when he was seen at a gym on Santos Close on 24 March this year.
Instead of stopping for armed officers, Bennett tried to ram into them and their vehicles.
However, officers were able to stop and arrest him for multiple offences including dangerous driving and absconding from prison.
West Midlands Police say thankfully none of the officers were injured.
Bennett, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to absconding from prison and three counts of driving whilst disqualified.
He was also found guilty of dangerous driving, three counts of criminal damage, and two counts of attempted escape from custody.
Bennett was jailed at Warwick Crown Court last Monday (28 September) for three years and six months.
