Volunteers in Warwickshire are being praised for their crucial role in supporting families devastated by the war in Ukraine.

Last night, Ukraine's Deputy Ambassador, Eduard Fesko, met with volunteers from local charity Belveder in Leamington Spa.

Since 2022, the charity have collected and sent over 300 tons of medical aid and 52 ambulances to the frontlines.

Ambassador Eduard Fesko says their continued support is making a difference: “It's wonderful and heart-warming to have a vibrant community here in Warwickshire who have been helping communities since 2022, it's always an honour to visit this space.

"This effort is absolutely essential because the volunteers are helping save lives, all the supplies make a huge difference to people's lives in Ukraine."

Ambassador Fesko continued: "In the current situation no help is too small because it makes such a difference due to the current demands for medical care in Ukraine.

"All of the equipment, cars, ambulances, stretchers and all the other aid is being put to use as the war continues."

The evening also marked the UK charity screening of “People” a film produced by the Warsaw Film School.

The film showcased the lives of five ordinary people in Ukraine and their resilliance throughout the war against Russia which broke out over three years ago.

The event also included short speeches from volunteers and those helped by the charity, Belveder.
