Dan Bentley joins Coventry City
He's signed from Wolves
Coventry City FC has announced the signing of Dan Bentley, from Wolverhampton Wanderers, on a two-year contract.
The experienced goalkeeper began his professional career at Southend United, where he was part of the team which won promotion from League Two, in 2015. His performances also saw him win their Player of the Year award and he was included in the PFA Team of the Year for League Two.
Bentley made 160 appearances for the Shrimpers, before earning a move to the Championship with Brentford, in 2016.
After three seasons in West London, he made the switch to Bristol City and was named their Player of the Year, for the 2020-21 campaign.
In January 2023, Bentley signed for Wolves and made his Premier League debut against Manchester United, at Old Trafford.
The 33 year-old says he is excited for his new challenge with Coventry City.
On signing for the Sky Blues, he said: “Coventry City is a fantastic club and I’m really happy to get the deal over the line.
“It feels like a place that’s developing and, off the back of a fantastic season last year, there’s a really good feel around the place. It’s really positive and there’s an obvious excitement to go into a new season, with the aim of being as successful as possible.
“I’ll bring a lot of experience; I’m a senior player, with good leadership qualities and someone who has really high standards.
“Of course, I want to make my mark on the pitch as well. There’s a really good goalkeeping group here, so I want to complement that group and when I get my opportunity, it’s down to me to take it. I want to help the Club get results in the Premier League and see how far we can take it.”
