ARA Mini Market shut down for selling counterfeit goods
A shop in Coventry has been shut down following reports of criminal activity, including the sale of illegal tobacco and counterfeit goods.
The ARA Mini Market, located on Broomfield Road within Coventry, was ordered to close after persistently selling illegal products, including tobacco and vapes.
The closure order was served on the store on 3rd September by Coventry magistrates, who granted a three-month closure.
It will remain in effect until 11.59pm on 2nd December 2026.
Coventry City Council's Trading Standards worked with the police to apply for the court order to counter criminal activity and prevent young people from being exposed to harmful products.
Coventry South Northwest Inspector Dal Bal said:
“Working alongside Trading Standards, our teams have taken action to close these business premises. Our priority is to protect our communities and tackle those who repeatedly break the law by putting illegal profits ahead of the safety and wellbeing of the public."
Councillor John McNicholas, Community Safety and Cohesion, added:
“We are increasing our efforts in partnership with the Police and the community to close shops that are illegally trading and this closure order is yet another positive step."
