Coventry man convicted of rape and sexual assault against young girl
Brandon Dalton found guilty after historic abuse uncovered thanks to victim’s bravery
A Coventry man has been found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting a young girl over a period of more than a decade.
Brandon Dalton, 57, subjected his victim to repeated abuse between 2002 and 2013, when she was just a child. He was finally identified after the survivor courageously came forward to tell police what had happened.
Investigators discovered Dalton had assaulted the girl multiple times at an address in Coventry.
In 2022, Dalton was caught again after he began communicating online with someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl. The profile was in fact a police decoy, and he was arrested by officers from Coventry LPA.
A search of his phone uncovered indecent images of children, including several Category A images – the most serious classification.
Dalton, of Coundon Road, Coventry, was charged with a number of offences including rape, indecent assault, making indecent images, and sexual communication with a child.
He was convicted at Warwick Crown Court on 2 October and has been remanded in custody until sentencing on 5 December.
West Midlands Police say they continue to investigate rape and serious sexual offences every day — and are urging survivors to come forward no matter how long ago the abuse took place.
“We promise to listen and investigate all reports we receive. By coming forward and sharing your story, you could help secure justice for other survivors,” the force said.
