A Coventry man has been banned from driving for six months after being caught driving the wrong way along the A46 in Stoneleigh.

The 25-year-old appeared at Leamington Magistrates Court on 20th January where he was fined £500 and banned from driving after admitting charges of careless driving, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance.

The incident, captured in dashcam footage submitted to police through Operation Snap, occurred in May 2025.

The video shows the driver continuing against the flow of traffic on the dual carriageway, meeting vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.

Rather than stopping, he activated his hazard lights and proceeded to pass oncoming drivers.

PC Ken Bratley, Road Safety Officer, said “This man’s driving fell well below the standard of a competent and careful driver, putting himself and others at risk of serious injury.

"We can only hope he uses the six-month ban to reflect on the potential consequences and takes responsibility by becoming a safer, better driver when he eventually returns to the roads.”

"Operation Snap allows members of the public to submit footage of offences such as dangerous or careless driving, overtaking on solid white lines, using a mobile phone while driving, ignoring traffic lights, or unsafe behaviour around horse riders and cyclists."
