People in Coventry and Warwickshire can now access free, round-the-clock mental health support via text messages.

The new messaging helpline has been made through a partnership between Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) and mental health service, Shout.

Anyone struggling with anxiety, stress, loneliness, or other mental health crises can text CWHOPE to 85258 to start a confidential conversation with a trained professional at any time of day or night.

The service is entirely text-based, providing a discreet option for those who may find speaking on the phone difficult.

Mary Mumvuri, Acting CEO at CWPT, said: "We are proud to introduce this crisis text service for people across Coventry and Warwickshire.

"We know that reaching out for help can be incredibly difficult, especially in moments of distress, and not everyone feels able to speak on the phone.

"By partnering with Shout, we are expanding the ways people can access support and ensuring help is available in a way that feels safe and discreet."

Kane Hazard, NHS Partnerships Manager at Mental Health Innovations, added: “We’re thrilled to be working with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust to offer free, 24/7 mental health support by text.

"Texting provides a discreet, accessible way for people to ask for support whenever they need it, easing pressure on 111 and in-person services."

The service is free from all major mobile networks and available to people of all ages.
