A new mission statement has been launched by Warwickshire Police in partnership with the Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Partnership, pledging to deliver child-focused and compassionate policing in the region.

The initiative aims to safeguard children, protecting them from harm while ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are prioritised in every encounter with police officers.

Recognising the challenges children face in speaking out or engaging with law enforcement due to fear or trauma, the mission statement underscores a commitment to easing this burden while vigorously pursuing those who threaten their safety.

The mission features newly established 'CHILD' principles designed to guide police and partner organisations in their interactions with children.

Developed from national best practices and the insights gathered from young people through 'Child friendly Warwickshire' workshops, these principles aim to fortify the existing commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Deputy Chief Constable Ben Smith emphasised the importance of the mission, stating: "Our aim is to deliver excellent child-centred policing as standard. This is an essential part of our force vision to serve and protect communities in Warwickshire."

The collaborative effort ensures ongoing cooperation with local agencies to maintain focus, transparency, and accountability in safeguarding children.
