Woman dies and man hospitalised after car crash on M40 in Warwickshire

A woman has died and a man is seriously injured following a two-car crash on the M40 in Lapworth late last night.

West Midlands Ambulance Service received a call at 10.54pm and dispatched three ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, and a critical care car from Warwickshire and Northamptonshire to the southbound stretch between junctions 15 and 16.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said the woman was found dead at the scene.

The man, who was in a serious condition, was treated at the scene before being taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

Two other men involved in the crash were assessed for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.
