Police launch investigation after body recovered from river at Victoria Park in Leamington

Police have launched an investigation after a body was recovered from a river at a park in Leamington.

Emergency Services were called to Victoria Park at around 7:45am after a member of the public saw a man in the river.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, had died.

His next of kin have been informed and police say they currently treating his death as "unexplained."

There is expected to be a visible police presence in the area and people are encouraged to speak to officers if they have concerns.

Detective Inspector Gareth Unett said: “We’re trying to establish the exact circumstances leading up to the man’s death and are keen to speak to anyone who might have information that could help us.

“In particular, we’d like to speak to anyone who was in the park before 7.45am this morning. If you can help, please get in touch.”
