Watch out for fake bank notes in Mid-Cornwall, say police
There has been a rise in the circulation of counterfeit currency
Police in St Austell are warning about a rise in fake bank notes being used in Mid-Cornwall.
They say officers have seized several counterfeit notes from shops and pubs.
False notes have also been used to buy items from online market place sales.
People are being urged to double-check any cash they receive - particularly larger notes that may have been used to make more expensive purchases.
Anything that looks suspicious should be reported to the police.
Devon and Cornwall Police say they are continuing to investigate, and are working closely with local businesses to identify those responsible.
