Visitor numbers up in Cornwall after a sunny Easter
Visit Cornwall say the Easter Period is worth around £100 million to the Cornish economy
Tourism bosses in Cornwall are celebrating a strong start to the visitor season, thanks to some good weather.
Visit Cornwall say the Easter period is worth around £100 million to the Cornish economy.
Jon Hyatt, chair of Visit Cornwall, told us: "It really helped build on that cautious optimism at the start of the year. This good weather has really showcased Cornwall."
It comes as figures reveal a rise in searches for UK roadtrips, with data revealing searches are up by more than 20 per cent, highlighting the rising demand for staycation visits.
Jon added: "A significant portion of that is down to locals as well. We speak a lot about inbound visitors but the sector relies heavily on our residents using facilities and doing day trips and the local community engaging, enjoying and supporting the sector at the same time.
"We're still looking at less visitors than the post-Covid boom but when you compare to visitor numbers pre-Covid we're reporting visitor numbers being higher, and spending better than last year."
